moving waters

things happen fast
the river is quick
it pulls you along              
on moisture and muscle
a brilliant skin    
a perfect fit
of landscape and weather
and all the big cycles

     it’s all in the glint of
     moving waters
     give me a glimpse of
     moving waters
     just a little glint of
     moving waters
     just a little glimpse

a sliver of dakota
up on top
the less you bring     
the more you gain
it all evaporates
goes up
comes back again as rain
it’s always changing
comes back again as rain
it’s ever changing

     it’s all in the glint of
     moving waters
     give me a glimpse of
     moving waters
     you can’t not look at
     moving waters
     just a little glimpse

feel the power, feel the flow
deep inside the giant rose            
nothing else I need to know
oh my god, it is so beautiful

it’s always changing, ever-changing  (x4)

you never step into
the same river twice
you never know
where it’s flowing
the rapids are strong
the water is white
it strips away what’s not important  (x3)
and offers up things that are

     moving waters
